Cloudflare Email Routing: 315 Listed Disposable Domains

Cloudflare Email Routing is a free email-forwarding service for domains whose DNS is on Cloudflare. It is not a temp mail host: it accepts mail at route1.mx.cloudflare.net, route2.mx.cloudflare.net and route3.mx.cloudflare.net (or the named hosts amir / linda / isaac.mx.cloudflare.net) and forwards it to a destination the domain owner set. Still, 315 of the 9,894 domains in our copy of the open-source disposable email list pointed their MX at Cloudflare Email Routing on 6 November 2026. Our mail-server family skipped this group on purpose; this page is where it belongs.

What Cloudflare Email Routing actually is

When Email Routing is enabled on a Cloudflare zone, Cloudflare publishes MX records for the domain and accepts inbound SMTP on those hosts, then forwards each message to a verified destination address (or to an Email Worker). Cloudflare's own docs describe it as forward-only: it does not host mailboxes and does not send outbound mail as the domain. That is different from a temp mail server such as generator.email or Mailinator, which keep a public or short-lived inbox on the service itself.

On 6 November 2026 we re-checked every domain in this group with a fresh MX query through Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (the whole-list MX scan was taken 5 November 2026; the 315 Cloudflare members were re-queried on 6 November 2026, with no membership changes). All 315 still had an MX record.

Which Cloudflare MX hosts appear

MX hostDomains
route3.mx.cloudflare.net311
route2.mx.cloudflare.net311
route1.mx.cloudflare.net310
amir.mx.cloudflare.net5
linda.mx.cloudflare.net5
isaac.mx.cloudflare.net5

The route1/2/3 set is the common configuration Cloudflare adds automatically. A smaller group uses the named hosts (amir, linda, isaac.mx.cloudflare.net), which Cloudflare also documents for Email Routing. A few listed domains also publish a second MX next to Cloudflare's; we still count them here when any MX ends in .mx.cloudflare.net.

There is no single upstream batch that explains the Cloudflare group. Names arrive across many small "missing domains" changes, alongside older services that later moved their DNS to Cloudflare. The endings are ordinary too:

Why an MX-only block fails here

A sign-up form that rejects every address whose MX is on Cloudflare Email Routing will refuse people who simply forward a custom domain to Gmail or Outlook. That is the same trap our guide on how sites detect disposable email warns about: shared infrastructure is a hint, not proof. The reliable step is a list check (our disposable email checker uses the same open-source list), then an MX lookup for context.

Some listed names look like short-lived inboxes, including ones that resemble a 10 minute mail service, but the mail path underneath is still Cloudflare's forwarder. If you need an inbox you can open again later, prefer a service that keeps its own domains and recovery flow rather than a one-off domain parked on a general forwarder.

Other forwarding and parking MX groups we have broken down: Google Workspace MX, Mailgun, Above.com parking.

Cloudflare Email Routing is a free forwarder: it accepts mail on one address and sends it on to an address the domain owner configured. The 315 listed domains are not running a temp-mail brand on Cloudflare's servers; they are using a general product as the front door. Blocking *.mx.cloudflare.net wholesale would also hit ordinary sites that forward a catch-all, so use it together with a domain-list check rather than as the only rule.

Look up a domain

Look up one name to see if it forwards through Cloudflare Email Routing, who hosts its email, or what its MX records say.

Questions

Is Cloudflare Email Routing a disposable email service?

No. It is a general forwarding product: anyone with a domain on Cloudflare DNS can turn it on and forward addresses to a real inbox. Volt Ghost itself receives mail through it. Some listed disposable domains also use it, which is why the MX alone is a weak signal.

How many listed disposable domains use Cloudflare Email Routing?

315 in our list copy on 6 November 2026. 310 used the route1/2/3 hosts and 5 used the named amir/linda/isaac hosts.

Can an MX check alone flag these domains as disposable?

No. Cloudflare Email Routing is used by ordinary sites and by some temp mail operators. Blocking every domain whose MX ends in .mx.cloudflare.net would reject real sign-ups. Check the domain against the disposable list first, then treat the MX as context, as our guide on how sites detect disposable email explains.

Why are so many of these names new?

166 of the 315 were first listed in 2026 and 67 in 2025. Older names are still there too: 54 have been on the list since 2018 or earlier.
