A fake email that works

Many "fake email generators" just produce text that looks like an email address. Nothing is behind it, so the confirmation link never arrives. That's fine for filling in a mock-up, and useless for an actual sign-up.

The generator above creates a real inbox on our own domains (mailghost.cyou and mailghost.cfd). Mail sent to it is received, shown on this page, and deleted automatically when the inbox expires.

When a generated email address is the right tool

  • One-time downloads and gated content. Whitepapers, templates and "enter your email to continue" pages.
  • Free trials you aren't sure you'll keep, so the follow-up sales emails don't land in your real inbox.
  • Testing your own app. Sign-up flows, password resets and transactional email templates. Use a fresh inbox for each test run so old messages don't confuse the result.
  • Wi-Fi portals and forums that insist on an email before you can read anything.

And when it isn't: anything you'll need again later. Think accounts holding money, your identity, purchases with warranties, or anything you'd need to recover with a password reset. For those, use your real address or an email alias that forwards to it.

How the generator works

  1. Generate. An address is created when the page opens. A short, mostly invisible bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) keeps automated abuse out.
  2. Pick a style. Realistic gives a name-based address like [email protected]. Random gives a string like [email protected].
  3. Receive. Incoming mail is shown within seconds. HTML emails open in a locked-down viewer that can't run scripts.
  4. Expire. After 24 hours the inbox and every message in it are deleted. You can extend once for free.

Is it legal to use a fake email address?

Using a disposable address to protect your privacy is legal in most places, and it's a common, sensible habit. What matters is what you do with it. Using any email address to commit fraud, harass people, or get around a ban you were given breaks the law or the site's rules, and our terms too.

Questions

Will the website know it's a temporary email?

Possibly. Some sites check domains against public lists of disposable providers. You can see how a domain looks with our disposable email checker.

Can I generate many addresses at once?

One at a time, with a per-visitor rate limit. It isn't built for bulk or automated sign-ups, and our terms don't allow them.
