Verification code not received? Try these 9 fixes in order

Most missing codes come down to a typo, a delay or a blocked domain. Start at the top. Each step takes under a minute.

This guide works for any inbox. Where Volt Ghost behaves differently from a regular mailbox, it's called out.

1. Check the address you typed

A single wrong letter sends the code somewhere else. Copy and paste the address instead of typing it. On Volt Ghost, use the Copy button. Watch out for a trailing space or a full stop added by autocomplete.

2. Wait two minutes, then refresh

Most codes arrive within seconds, but busy senders queue messages, and some retry after a greylisting delay. Volt Ghost refreshes automatically every 7 seconds. Pressing ↻ Refresh checks straight away.

3. Look in spam, promotions and other tabs

In a normal mailbox, verification emails often get filtered. Search your mailbox for the site's name. Volt Ghost has no spam folder. Everything that's accepted appears in the one inbox.

4. Make sure you pressed "send" on the right step

Some sites only send the code after you confirm a second screen or solve a captcha. Others send it by SMS or to an authenticator app instead. Read the confirmation message on the site carefully.

5. Don't request codes too fast

Pressing "resend" several times can trigger the site's rate limit, and every new code cancels the previous one. Wait for the countdown, request one new code, and use the most recent email.

6. The site may block disposable addresses

Some services refuse temporary email domains, either silently (no email is sent) or with an error. If a temp address never gets a code but your real one does, this is the likely reason. You can see how a domain is classified with our disposable email checker. In that case, use your real address or an email alias. Trying to get around the block usually breaks the site's terms.

7. Your temp inbox expired or changed

If you pressed New address after signing up, the code went to the old address. Reopen the old inbox with its recovery link. With short-lived "10 minute" inboxes, the address may have expired before the email arrived. Volt Ghost inboxes last 24 hours for this reason.

8. The inbox is full or the sender was limited

Volt Ghost keeps up to 50 messages per inbox and limits how many messages one sender can deliver in a short time. That stops a single site from flooding an address. If you've requested a lot of codes, generate a new address and request just one.

9. Something is wrong on the sender's side

Outages happen. Check the site's status page or social accounts, wait a while, or contact their support. Include the time you requested the code. Avoid sending them your recovery link.
