When your first email arrives, Volt Ghost shows a short reminder to save the link. You can copy it, or bookmark the recovery page.
The link looks like voltghost.com/?recover=…. The long part is a signed token tied to one inbox. Our server checks the signature, so tokens can't be guessed or edited to open someone else's inbox.
Treat it like a password. Anyone with the link can read that inbox until it expires. Don't paste it into public chats or screenshots. Recovery pages are never cached by our app, and they tell search engines not to index them.
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "That inbox has expired." | The 24-hour lifetime (or your extension) ran out, and the messages were deleted | Generate a new address. Expired inboxes can't be restored, by design |
| "That inbox no longer exists." | The inbox was removed by cleanup after expiry | Same as above |
| "That recovery link is invalid." | The link was cut off or changed when you copied it | Copy the full link again from the original device |
| "Too many requests…" | Too many recovery attempts from your network in a short time | Wait for the time shown, then try once |
Most disposable inbox services don't keep a way back in. Once the tab or session is gone, so is the address. If you lost an inbox somewhere else, check that browser's history for a link with a token or ID in it. If there isn't one, the messages are usually gone. For anything you might need again, start with a service that gives you a recovery link, or use your real email.
Exactly as long as the inbox: 24 hours, or until the end of your free extension (up to 7 days).
Only in the same browser, where it's remembered automatically. We don't have accounts, so there's no other way to prove an inbox is yours.
Yes. Both will show the same inbox and refresh automatically.
