GMX MX Records: gmx.com, gmx.net and gmx.de Mail Servers

These are the DNS records that route mail for @gmx.com, @gmx.net and @gmx.de addresses, as published on 30 October 2026. Check any other domain live with our MX lookup.

GMX MX records by domain

We read these records from Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver on 30 October 2026. When two records share a priority, sending servers pick between them, which spreads the load.

DomainPriorityMail servers (MX hosts)
gmx.com10 and 10mx00.gmx.net, mx01.gmx.net
gmx.net10 and 10mx00.emig.gmx.net, mx01.emig.gmx.net
gmx.de10 and 10mx00.emig.gmx.net, mx01.emig.gmx.net

gmx.com, the international domain, has its own pair of hosts, while the German-market gmx.net and gmx.de share the emig pair. Each host name returned one IPv4 address when we checked. Like Yahoo, GMX uses equal priorities instead of a primary and backups, so neither server is the "main" one.

GMX's sender authentication records

RecordWhere it livesValue on 30 Oct 2026
SPFgmx.com, gmx.net, gmx.de TXTv=spf1 redirect=_spf.gmx.net
DMARC_dmarc.gmx.com (same on .net and .de)v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:[email protected]
MTA-STS_mta-sts.gmx.com and _mta-sts.gmx.net TXT plus policy filePublished, policy mode: testing; none on gmx.de
TLS reporting_smtp._tls.gmx.com and .gmx.net TXTv=TLSRPTv1;rua=mailto:[email protected]
  • One SPF list for all three domains: each domain redirects to _spf.gmx.net, which names GMX's outbound mout servers and two 1and1.com hosts. That's the same redirect approach Gmail uses with _spf.google.com.
  • DMARC quarantine: mail that claims to be from GMX and fails alignment should go to spam rather than the inbox.
  • MTA-STS in testing: the policy files list the hosts above, but in testing mode a sender that can't get verified TLS still delivers and only sends a report, here to an address at 1und1.de.

When GMX's records matter

GMX addresses are common in Germany, so their records come up when someone debugs bounces from European customers. If your logs show a refusal from mx00.emig.gmx.net, the bounce came from GMX's receiving servers and its text explains why. Because gmx.com and gmx.net use different host names, a filter or allow-list that only knows one pair will treat the other as unknown. Our email host lookup recognises both and names the provider as GMX / WEB.DE.

GMX and disposable email checks

A GMX address passes MX-based disposable checks because its servers belong to a mainstream provider. If you only need an address for a single sign-up, a temporary inbox avoids creating another long-term account; if you'll need the account later, keep using a permanent provider such as GMX. How sites detect disposable email explains the checks forms run, and the disposable email checker tells you whether a given domain is on the public list.

Questions

What is the MX record for gmx.com?

gmx.com has two MX records, mx00.gmx.net and mx01.gmx.net, both at priority 10, so senders share mail between them.

What is the MX record for gmx.net and gmx.de?

Both use mx00.emig.gmx.net and mx01.emig.gmx.net, again both at priority 10. These are different host names from the ones gmx.com uses.

Does GMX use MTA-STS?

gmx.com and gmx.net publish MTA-STS, but their policy files were in testing mode on 30 October 2026, so senders report TLS problems rather than refusing delivery. gmx.de had no MTA-STS record.

Is gmx.com a disposable email domain?

No. GMX is a long-running free mailbox provider and its domains are not on the public disposable-domain list our checker uses.
